About the role
Behind every well-run service, is a well-run roster, and that’s where you come in.

As a Senior Rostering Officer, you’ll help coordinate a large cleaning workforce across multiple sites, making sure people are rostered at the right time to meet operational requirements.

This position currently operates within a predominantly manual service model, with significant manual data validation responsibilities. You will be instrumental in supporting the team’s transition towards automated processes as the service stabilises and moves into BAU.

You’ll:

Develop and maintain accurate, fair, and compliant rosters across multiple sites
Solve problems quickly, from roster conflicts and workforce gaps to urgent operational changes
Maintain and analyse workforce data in Excel, ensuring accurate records for payroll, reporting and workforce planning.
Support payroll by investigating pay-related issues, including discrepancies in leave, overtime, training hours and roster changes.
Interpret industrial awards, validate entitlements, penalties, allowances, and ensure correct application across rostered staff.
Conduct detailed rostering compliance checks, ensuring alignment with legislation, awards, departmental policy, and operational requirements.
Maintain workforce allocation data, accurately map positions, shifts, and service delivery needs.
Collaborate with Recruitment and operational teams to support workforce onboarding, establishment requirements and roster readiness, ensuring new employees are set up accurately and efficiently.

This is a fast-paced, high-volume environment where your attention to detail really counts. Your work will have a direct impact on employee pay, workforce coverage and the delivery of essential cleaning services across schools.

About you
You’ll bring:

Experience in rostering, workforce planning, resource coordination or payroll within a complex service delivery environment
Experience overseeing rostering systems, processes and data quality to support operational and contractual requirements.
Strong Excel skills
The ability to interpret and apply awards, industrial requirements and policies
Proven ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, providing clear communication, timely advice, and constructive problem solving.
Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role

Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated equivalent professional experience.
Current and valid Working with Children Check Clearance for paid employment.
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
