About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join our Human Resources team.
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will provide technical expertise within payroll and be able to independently manage Greenstone’s complete fortnightly payroll cycle. You will provide operational coverage for the Payroll Manager, resolve complex payroll matters and act as a subject-matter expert for Dayforce Payroll and Workforce Management.
This is an opportunity to combine hands-on payroll delivery with system optimisation, compliance, reporting, governance and continuous improvement.
Duties
- Independently manage the complete fortnightly payroll cycle, including complex payments, reconciliations, bank files and statutory obligations.
- Act as second-in-command to the Payroll Manager and provide reliable payroll coverage during planned and unplanned absences.
- Provide advanced Dayforce Payroll and Workforce Management configuration, reporting, testing and troubleshooting support.
- Maintain effective payroll controls and compliance with employment, taxation, superannuation and record-keeping requirements.
- Identify and deliver system, process and governance improvements that strengthen payroll accuracy, resilience and employee experience.
Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience independently processing Dayforce Australian payroll in a medium-to-large, complex organisation.
- Recent hands-on expertise in Dayforce Payroll and Workforce Management (essential, minimum 2 years)
- Demonstrated ability to calculate and validate terminations, redundancies, commissions, bonuses, back payments and adjustments.
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, modern awards, PAYG, Single Touch Payroll, superannuation, payroll tax and leave obligations.
- Experience maintaining payroll controls, reconciliations, audit evidence and accurate payroll records.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated curiosity and disciplined problem-solving — able to investigate unfamiliar Dayforce or payroll issues methodically, validate assumptions against system configuration and results, and explain both the cause and proposed solution to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
