The Role

This position is an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team and addresses the health needs of young people released from custody to the community. It focuses on culturally safe, trauma-informed care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth with mental health and/or substance use needs.

Relevant clinical qualifications and registration/eligibility for registration as outlined in the essential criteria.
Demonstrated experience working with young people, with a sound understanding of adolescent development, mental health, and drug and alcohol issues. Proven ability to conduct clinical assessments and deliver appropriate therapeutic interventions.
Experience working with Aboriginal people and communities, with a strong understanding of cultural strengths, challenges, and approaches to providing safe and effective care in mental health and drug and alcohol settings.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective partnerships with stakeholders, including ACCHS, government and non-government services, to support coordinated care and facilitate referral pathways for young people and families.
Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, exercise independent clinical judgement, and communicate clearly and respectfully across diverse settings.
Current NSW Driver’s Licence and a valid Working With Children Check (please include registration number).

Please note: We would consider another base location if applicant can travel to Dubbo ( eg. If you live in Parkes or Walgett)

Essential Requirements:

For Nursing staff- actively contributes to the development of clinical practice in the ward/unit/service; (b) acts as a resource and mentor to others in relation to clinical practice; and (c) actively contributes to their own professional development. Clinical Nurse exercises extended autonomy of decision making; exercises professional knowledge and judgement in providing complex care requiring advanced clinical skills and undertakes one of the following roles: leadership in the development of nursing specialty clinical practice and service delivery in the ward/unit/service; or specialist clinical practice across a small or medium sized health facility/sector/service; or primary case management of a complete episode of care; or primary case management of a continuum of specialty care involving both inpatient and community based services; or an authorised extended role within the scope of Registered Nurse/Midwifery practice.

For Allied Health staff - Provide clinical supervision, support and teaching of Occupational Therapists and Social Workers, undergraduate and work experience students as well as participate in in-service education sessions to staff and students.

Valid unrestricted drivers' licence for use in NSW/Australia.

Valid NSW Employee Working With Children Check
