Full-Time Cook – Beachfront Café at Balmoral

Our Cafe McKels at Bella Vista has been operating since 2009, and we want to express our gratitude to our lovely customers and expand with another cafe. We proudly named it Simple Simon Café that commenced since 2016, which is a full-service café located in the heart of Balmoral, Mosman. Known for our specialty coffee, welcoming atmosphere, and exceptional all-day menu, we have become a valued part of the local community.

We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Full-Time Cook to join our busy kitchen team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about quality food, consistency, and working in a fast-paced café environment with stunning beachfront views.

Key Responsibilities

Inspect food ingredients and produce to ensure freshness, quality, and suitability for service.
Prepare and cook menu items in line with established recipes and presentation standards.
Operate and monitor kitchen equipment, including ovens, grills, and fryers, to ensure proper cooking temperatures.
Season and prepare dishes to maintain consistent flavour and quality.
Portion and plate meals with appropriate garnishes and accompaniments.
Store food correctly in temperature-controlled environments and follow stock rotation procedures.
Prepare meals to accommodate dietary requirements and allergen-sensitive requests.
Assist with menu planning and estimating food requirements based on business needs and seasonal produce.
Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen environment in accordance with food safety regulations.
Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.
Support and guide junior kitchen staff when required.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Previous experience in a café or fast-paced kitchen environment.
Trade Certificate IV in Cookery
Strong attention to detail, particularly in portion control and presentation.
The ability to follow instructions and work efficiently under pressure.
Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and allergen management practices.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
A proactive, organised, and positive attitude.
Relevant culinary qualifications (preferred)
