## Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Electronics Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of sophisticated electronic systems and components. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical foundation across hardware and software disciplines, with the ability to work across the full project lifecycle from concept through to commissioning. This role suits a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about delivering innovative, reliable electronic solutions across a range of industrial and commercial applications.
## Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electronic components, circuits, and systems for use in computer, communication, control, and industrial applications, ensuring solutions meet functional and regulatory requirements
- Develop and maintain embedded software and firmware to support the operation of electronic systems, with a focus on reliability, efficiency, and scalability
- Create and implement apparatus, test procedures, and methodologies to validate the performance and integrity of electronic components, circuits, and systems throughout the development lifecycle
- Supervise the installation, commissioning, and integration of computer, communication, and control systems, ensuring correct configuration, control, and protection measures are in place
- Establish, monitor, and enforce performance and safety standards relating to the operation, modification, maintenance, and repair of electronic systems in accordance with industry regulations
- Design communication systems utilising wired, optical fibre, and wireless media, selecting appropriate transmission mediums and layouts based on technical and operational requirements
- Analyse communications traffic, service levels, and network demands to determine optimal system configurations, equipment placement, and infrastructure design
- Design and develop signal processing algorithms, selecting suitable hardware and software platforms to implement these effectively within target systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, software developers, and project managers to deliver integrated solutions on time and within scope
- Prepare and review technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, schematics, and compliance records, maintaining accurate records throughout all project phases
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across existing systems and processes, recommending and implementing design enhancements to optimise performance and reduce operational risk
- Provide technical support and guidance during fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and the resolution of complex engineering issues across deployed systems
## Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in electronics design, development, and system integration across one or more industry sectors
- Proficiency in circuit design and simulation tools such as Altium Designer, MATLAB, SPICE, or equivalent platforms
- Solid understanding of embedded systems development, including experience with microcontrollers, FPGAs, or DSPs
- Working knowledge of communication systems and protocols, including wired, wireless, and optical fibre technologies
- Experience developing and applying signal processing algorithms and translating these into hardware or software implementations
- Familiarity with relevant Australian and international standards and safety regulations applicable to electronic systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex technical requirements and deliver practical engineering solutions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical documentation and engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and contribute effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment
## Preferred Qualifications
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status with Engineers Australia, or eligibility and commitment to work towards this
- Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant engineering or technology discipline
- Experience within specific sectors such as defence, telecommunications, transport, energy, or industrial automation
- Familiarity with AS/NZS standards and experience working within a regulated engineering environment
- Knowledge of RF systems, antenna design, or electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing
- Exposure to Agile or systems engineering methodologies within a hardware and software development context
- Experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, or industrial control environments
