Learning Difficulties Intervention Tutor

PosAbility Australia is seeking an Educational Consultant / Learning Intervention Tutor to provide individualised literacy and numeracy assessment and intervention for children with learning difficulties and additional needs.
This role would suit a teacher, special educator, clinician or experienced tutor who is passionate about helping children build confidence, experience success and reach their potential.
At PosAbility, you will work with children who may have dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, autism, anxiety or other learning and developmental needs. You will be supported by a friendly, collaborative multidisciplinary team of experienced educators, psychologists and allied health professionals.

About the Role
The primary objective of this role is to provide high-quality educational consultancy, assessment and intervention services to children and families.
You will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to develop resources, programs and services that support children with learning difficulties and other additional needs.
Casual, contractor, part-time and full-time arrangements will be considered for the right applicant.

In This Role, You Will
- Deliver individual and small-group literacy and numeracy intervention programs
- Support children who are behind in reading, spelling, writing and/or mathematics
- Use evidence-based programs and methods to support student learning
- Conduct and score standardised and diagnostic one-to-one assessments
- Develop SMART goals and regularly monitor student progress
- Prepare placement and progress review reports
- Communicate with parents about student progress, goals and strategies
- Liaise with school staff and other professionals where required
- Use positive behavioural strategies to motivate, engage and support students
- Participate in training and ongoing professional development
- Contribute to the development of resources, programs and services
- Support positive relationships between the clinic, families and the wider community
About You
You may be a teacher, special educator, speech pathologist, occupational therapist, psychologist, learning support professional or experienced tutor with an interest in supporting children with learning difficulties.
The successful applicant will have:
- An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Education, Speech Pathology, Psychology, Occupational Therapy or a related field
- Experience supporting children with learning difficulties or additional needs
- Knowledge of evidence-based approaches for supporting children with literacy and/or numeracy difficulties
- An understanding of Specific Learning Disorders, including dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and a warm, child-centred approach
- A commitment to professional development and reflective practice
- Proficient technology skills
- A current Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain one
- Availability to work a minimum of three afternoons per week between 2:00 pm and 6:30 pm
Highly Regarded
The following experience or qualifications would be highly regarded:
- Postgraduate qualifications in Special Education, Inclusive Education, Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Psychology or a related field
- Teacher registration or AHPRA registration as a speech pathologist, occupational therapist or psychologist
- Maths, high school teaching or tutoring experience
- Experience working with children with ADHD, autism, anxiety or other additional needs
- Experience using standardised assessments
- Experience delivering educational programs online, including via Microsoft Teams
- Experience with Direct Instruction programs
