The primary purpose of this role is to support the Northern Region underwriting team to ensure professional underwriting standards is provided to internal and external customers, to develop and implement required underwriting action plans and to deliver quality service and financial targets to Plan, whilst always ensuring adherence to company risk, underwriting and compliance standards.
About the role
- Support the Northern Region underwriting team across New Business and Renewals for Mid Corp liability customers.
- Build foundational underwriting capability by contributing to prospecting, pipelining, and managing increasingly complex renewal portfolios across liability accounts.
- Ensure adherence to underwriting frameworks, delegated authorities, and compliance standards while developing practical underwriting judgement within the business.
- Collaborate with internal distribution teams and actively engage with NSW/ACT brokers and customers in a market-facing capacity to drive relationships and pipeline growth.
- Contribute to a strong team culture through mentoring, learning, and continuous development
About you
- Insurance or underwriting experience is preferred, ideally within liability or general insurance environment.
- Strong financial acumen, with the ability to understand key financial drivers, risk, and portfolio performance.
- Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret data and support sound underwriting decisions.
- Proactive and confident communicator, comfortable engaging with brokers, customers, and internal stakeholders in a market-facing role.
- Positive attitude and strong cultural fit, with a growth mindset and willingness to learn and develop within underwriting.
- A passion for leveraging emerging technologies to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
