A role as a SAAS Paramedic in one of our regional and remote communities gives you exposure to a diverse range of clinical presentations, including opportunities to manage cases and develop clinical breadth in ways that can differ from metropolitan based practice. From high‑acuity emergencies to unique environmental scenarios, you’ll broaden your expertise and strengthen your clinical skills.

Your Commitment

Within our Country regions, our paramedics are highly trusted members of the community. Their role often extends beyond emergency care due to the distance to primary health services, making community integration, strong local relationships, and an understanding of community health needs essential.

To enable this - and in acknowledgement of our investment in supporting your relocation - successful candidates will be required to complete a minimum of 12 months in their initial regional location.

Eligibility

Please see the attached role description for a list of eligibility criteria.

As part of the selection process, applicants must meet the required Pre-Employment Medical and Functional Assessment activities and assessments, and immunisation requirements ensuring compliance with SA Health Care Worker Immunisation and Screening Requirements.

Regional Incentive Payments

SAAS provides Regional Incentive Payments for Paramedics working in country locations. Depending on your location, you can earn anywhere from an additional $2,000 to almost $8,000 on top of your base salary in your first year. This payment increases each year you continue in a regional role.

Salary Packaging with Smart

As an employee of SA Ambulance Service, you may be eligible to salary package a range of living expenses which can significantly increase your take home pay. Visit https://sagov.smart.com.au/ for more information.

Relocation Support

To make your relocation to South Australia and transition into SAAS as smooth as possible, we’ll provide you with up to $15,000 reimbursement of relocation expenses, as part of the SA Health’s Regional Incentive Program. This will cover the cost of travel, short-term accommodation, relocation costs and other expenses.

Government Employee Housing

Eligible SAAS staff can apply to access the Government Employee Housing program for housing located 100km outside of the Adelaide CBD. In some regions this can include up to 50% subsidy on rent.
