Full Job Description

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Fitter / Machinist to join our Silos SA division, based at Sheaoak Log. Reporting directly to the Machine Shop Supervisor, you will be responsible for machining tasks using CNC and manual equipment, as well as assembling, installing, repairing and maintaining mechanical components and systems. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong technical skills, problem-solving ability and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and specifications.
Fabricate, modify, and repair mechanical components using lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drills.
Assemble machines and mechanical systems with precision, ensuring alignment and correct fit.
Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting of machinery to identify and rectify faults.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts used, and repairs performed .
Assist with the installation of new machinery and mechanical systems.
Implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimise downtime.
Perform site work across various industries as required.

Skills and Experience

Trade Certificate – Cert III in Engineering Mechanical Trade (MEM30298).
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
Strong experience in production and jobbing machining, and maintenance fitting.
Ability to diagnose and solve mechanical problems.
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and quality control.
High-risk forklift licence, vehicle licence, and White Card required.
Ability to work under pressure and multi-task effectively.
Positive “can-do” attitude and hands-on approach to achieving results.
Available to support business needs through overtime when required.
