Full Job Description

Rumbalara Aboriginal Cooperative – Health & Wellbeing Services now has the following vacancy

Primary Health Care Nurse

Part-time, 22.8 hours a week – 18 Months, Fixed Term

(Days of work are negotiable)

About the Role

The Primary Health Care Nurse will deliver holistic, community-focused care, extending beyond routine clinical tasks to support improved health outcomes.

The role is centred on providing culturally safe care, building trust, and promoting long-term wellbeing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families, and community.

About You

To excel in this position, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:

Current registration as Registered Nurse with AHPRA and have a minimum of 5 years’ clinical experience
Current accreditation as a Nurse immuniser
Knowledge of the importance of creating a safe and welcoming space for Aboriginal patients where they feel comfortable sharing their health concerns without fear of judgment or discrimination
Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills across acute, chronic, and preventive care
Experience in chronic disease management (e.g. diabetes, cardiovascular disease, respiratory conditions)
The ability to establish a respectful and trusting relationship with Aboriginal patients. This may include taking time to engage in informal conversations
Being able to communicate in a clear and culturally appropriate manner, avoiding medical jargon and ensuring patients understand their diagnoses, treatment options, and prevention methods.
Providing holistic care that considers not just physical health but also social, emotional, and cultural needs.
