Greater Shepparton City Council, situated in the heart of the Goulburn Valley, is the fifth largest provincial centre in Victoria and has a well-developed economy due to its strong agricultural and irrigation base, with major industries related to food processing, manufacturing, transport and health care. The Goulburn Valley is often referred to as 'The Food Bowl of Australia' as around 25% of the total value of Victoria's agricultural production is generated in this area.
Greater Shepparton has a population of approximately 69,000 and is culturally rich with 17.4% of residents being born overseas. The area has excellent education, recreation, cultural, social and health facilities and tourism is a developing focus for the region.
Visitor Services Retail Officer
Salary: $73,089.64 per annum pro rata

Do you have a passion for customer service, retail, and showcasing the best of our region? We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Visitor Services Retail Officer to join our team at the Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering exceptional visitor experiences while contributing to a vibrant retail offering that promotes local products and the Greater Shepparton destination.
In this dynamic frontline role, you will:
- Deliver high-quality visitor services and provide information that promotes tourism across the region
- Support the day-to-day operations of the Visitor Centre
- Manage and enhance the retail offering, including merchandising, stock management and product selection
- Create visually engaging displays that reflect Greater Shepparton’s destination brand
- Assist with events, promotions and visitor engagement activities
- Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, local businesses and tourism partners
You will bring:
- Strong customer service experience in a retail, tourism or customer-facing environment
- Experience in retail operations, merchandising and stock control
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Well-developed organisational and administrative abilities
- A proactive approach and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- An interest in tourism and promoting the local region
Work Schedule:
- Thursday: 8:15am – 5:00pm
- Friday: 9:45am – 5:00pm
- Saturday: 9:45am – 4:15pm

Note: This position is subject to a 6 month qualifying period in accordance with the Fair Work Australia minimum employment period. During the qualifying period employees will be provided with appropriate on-going induction, support, assistance, resources and training to enable them to meet the required performance standards for the position.
