About the role:

The Senior Policy Advisor supports the manager to deliver high quality, authoritative strategic policy and to implement program responses with a focus on blood borne viruses and sexually transmissible infections (BBV/STIs).

Working within a project team, the role ensures robust systems, processes and procedures are in place to support the development, management and continuous improvement of policies and programs to keep Victorians safe from BBV/STIs.

The role also establishes and maintains effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership teams, and oversees contract management activities aimed at improving BBV/STI outcomes for Victorians.

About you:

Can you demonstrate the following?

Initiates and maintains relationships with peer and senior internal and external stakeholders
Focuses on understanding and resolving stakeholder issues
Draft and develop material including the preparation of Cabinet and Cabinet related material, Ministerial and Secretary briefings and meeting papers, agendas, minutes and reports
Develops briefs on highly complex issues that provide options for discussion and consideration and will contribute to the development of a set of final options for decision
Innovative thinking and analysis influences developments within areas of responsibility
Undertakes complex independent scientific, technical or specialist work and analysis

Qualifications / Specialist Expertise

Tertiary qualifications in public health, management, health administration or other relevant qualifications would be desirable.
Demonstrated understanding of and expertise in communicable disease policy is desirable.
