The Central Queensland Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service (CQMHAODS) delivers specialist, trauma-informed care across a vast regional community exceeding 250,000 people. Based out of Rockhampton, our principal service hub, our team provides acute care, community outreach, and forensic mental health interventions. We focus on community partnerships and recovery-focused care to significantly reduce the symptoms of mental illness and help individuals build independent, fulfilling lives close to home.
About the role:
Deliver advanced, risk-focused forensic consultation-liaison services across the Central Queensland and Central West health networks using flexible service delivery models.
Conduct comprehensive specialist risk assessments utilising structured professional judgement tools and author targeted clinical reports.
Partner directly with regional treating teams to provide case-specific formulation, support, and interventions for consumers with complex problem behaviours.
Apply expert clinical reasoning and critical thinking to manage a complex caseload independently with minimal direct supervision.
Design, implement, and facilitate forensic mental health training and educational workshops for local staff and external community stakeholders.
About you:
You hold a degree-level qualification in Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Psychology, with corresponding professional registration or association eligibility.
You possess advanced clinical knowledge in mental health service delivery, specifically across triage, complex entry, and initial risk assessment processes.
You bring proven experience navigating the delicate complexities of consumers presenting with co-occurring serious mental illness and offending behaviours.
You demonstrate a thorough, practical understanding of the Mental Health Act 2016 and the contemporary guidelines that underpin recovery-focused regional service models.
You bring high-level communication and negotiation skills, allowing you to calmly prioritize client outcomes and build collaborative relationships across complex, multi-agency networks.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $14,447 p.m. is comprised of:
An hourly rate between $70.58 - $76.63 p.h.
