Forensic Science Queensland (FSQ) is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join the Forensic Chemistry division. This temporary full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality forensic analyses in a professional and collaborative environment.
Your Opportunity
As a Laboratory Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the Forensic Chemistry laboratory, which utilises state-of-the-art instruments such as GC-MS, FTIR, UPLC, and UPLC-MS/MS. You will assist in the delivery of analytical services, ensuring compliance with quality standards and contributing to the effective operation of the laboratory.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Perform general laboratory duties including reagent & sample preparation.
Perform analytical techniques involving high sample throughput in collaboration with other staff, ensuring reliability and consistency.
Operate analytical instrumentation, including GC-MS, FTIR, UPLC, and UPLC MS/MS, to support forensic analyses.
Communicate effectively and work responsibly within a team, both with and without direct supervision.
Demonstrate a commitment to quality management and continuous improvement principles.
Mandatory Requirements
A relevant Certificate, Associate Diploma, Diploma, or equivalent formal qualification in the field of Science with a major emphasis in Chemistry.
Proof of qualification must be provided prior to commencement of laboratory duties.
The successful applicant must be vaccinated, or undergo vaccination, against Hepatitis B.
A criminal history check will be conducted on the recommended applicant.
Applicants must be eligible to work in Australia. For temporary appointments, a visa permitting temporary employment is required.
