Job Description

We are seeking experienced Scrub/Scout Nurses to join the Operating Theatre team at Port Macquarie Private Hospital. This is an opportunity to work across a range of surgical specialties in a supportive, well-equipped environment, with access to ongoing professional development and education.

As a member of our perioperative team, you will plan, deliver and evaluate patient care with the support and guidance of the Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Nurse and Shift Leaders, ensuring a high standard of safe, patient-centred surgical care.

In this role you will:

Perform scrub and scout duties across a rotating range of surgical specialties.
Support perioperative workflow, maintaining timely and efficient theatre schedules.
Communicate effectively with surgeons, anaesthetists and the broader perioperative team.
Maintain instrument, swab and specimen accountability in line with ACORN standards.
Uphold a culture of safety, infection control and professional practice throughout all interactions.

About You

You are a confident, adaptable perioperative nurse with sound scrub/scout experience and a commitment to surgical patient safety. You will also demonstrate:

Current registration with AHPRA as a Enrolled Nurse (IV Qualified) (essential).
Minimum two (2) years' scrub/scout experience across surgical specialties (essential).
Demonstrated understanding of ACORN standards, aseptic technique and instrument management.
Effective communication skills and a strong customer service focus.
Ability to assess, plan and coordinate patient care needs in the perioperative setting.
Flexibility to work a rotating 7-day roster, including evenings and weekends.
Postgraduate qualifications in perioperative nursing will be highly regarded.
