Full Job Description

COOK

The Douglas Community & Sports Club Inc. T/A The Tin Shed Port Douglas is seeking an experienced Cook to join our busy kitchen team in Port Douglas.

Salary: $75,000 per annum plus superannuation
Position: Full Time (Minimum 38 hours per week)

The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing, seasoning and cooking a variety of menu items whilst maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, food safety and kitchen operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare, season and cook menu items in accordance with recipes and kitchen standards.
Prepare and organise ingredients and complete mise en place requirements for service periods.
Ensure food quality, consistency, portion control and presentation standards are maintained.
Monitor food preparation and cooking processes to ensure meals are prepared and presented to a high standard.
Assist with planning and preparation of menus, daily specials and seasonal menu items.
Monitor stock levels, rotate stock and assist with inventory control and ordering requirements.
Ensure compliance with food safety legislation, food handling requirements, HACCP principles and workplace health and safety procedures.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations, equipment and storage areas.
Assisting in supervising Kitchen Hands and junior kitchen staff during food preparation and service periods.
Contribute to efficient kitchen operations during busy service periods.

Skills and Experience

Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, Certificate IV in Kitchen Management or equivalent qualification.
At least one year of relevant work experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen environment.
Ability to prepare, season and cook menu items in accordance with recipes and kitchen standards.
Understanding of food safety, stock control and kitchen operations.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
