The Surfy Port Douglas is seeking a motivated and experienced Head Cook to join our team on a permanent basis in beautiful Port Douglas .
The successfull applicant will recieve an annual salary of $ 79499 plus 12% superannuation. As the Head Cook, you will report directly to the chef and be responsible for the coordination of day to day kitchen operations, ensuring the consistent preparation and presentation of high - qualtity meals maintaining food safety standards, and supporting the efficient operation of the kitchen. The role includes supervising kitchen staff, coordinating food preparation activities , and assisting the chef with menu planning and inventure management .
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspect food supplies and ingredients to ensure they meet qualtity and frreshness standards
- Prepare, cook and present a variety of meals in accordance with recipes, customer requirements and business standards
- Operate and monitor kitchen retirement, including ovens, grills fryers and other cooking applicances
- Apply appropriate herbs , spices and seasonings to achieve consistent flavour and presentation
- Portion and present meals , including preparing sauces , gravies and garnishes .
- Store food safely using appropriate temperatures control , stock rotation and food handling procedures
- Prepare meals to accomadate special dietary , allergies, cultural and nutritional requirements where required.
- Assist the Chef with menu planning , daily specials, seasonal menu options and estimating food requirements
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering ingredients and kitchen supplies to support efficient. kitchen operations and minimise waste
- Supervise, coordinate and provide on the job training and guidance to cooks and other kitchen staff
- maintain a high standard of cleanliness , food safety and workplace health and safety
- Work collaboratively with the chef and front of house staff to ensure efficient service and a high standards of customer satisfiaction
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Demonstrated ability to prepare a variety of dishes and operate commercial kitchen equipment
- Experience supervising, training or mentoring kitchen staff
- Sound knowledge of food safety standards, safe food handling practices, and preparing meals to meet special dietary requirements
- The ability to work effiently in a fast paced team environment while maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation
