Key Responsibilities:
1. Analysing engineering drawings, technical specifications and fabrication requirements to determine the appropriate installation methods, machining processes, metal components and sequence of operations required for specialised off-road mechanical modification projects.
2. Performing precision fitting and integration of fabricated metal assemblies, structural mounting systems and mechanically engineered components used in customised 4WD and heavy-duty touring vehicle applications.
3. Modifying, machining and adapting metal components and fabricated assemblies through the use of drilling, grinding, cutting, boring and shaping equipment to achieve required tolerances and structural compatibility.
4. Conducting precision measurement and alignment procedures on fabricated and assembled mechanical systems to verify dimensional accuracy, load distribution, clearances and operational stability.
5. Setting up and operating workshop machinery, fabrication tools and mechanical equipment used in the machining, forming and refinement of metal components associated with engineered vehicle modification systems.
6. Fabricating, adjusting and installing hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanically integrated systems associated with suspension enhancement, load-support systems and specialised off-road mechanical equipment.
7. Diagnosing complex mechanical and structural faults within fitted systems and carrying out corrective machining, mechanical adjustments and overhaul activities on associated components and assemblies.
8. Performing maintenance, rebuilding and repair of mechanical assemblies, fabricated metal systems and fluid-powered equipment used in high-performance off-road and commercial vehicle applications.
9. Assisting in the fabrication and installation of engineered support structures, chassis-mounted assemblies and integrated metal systems designed for specialised vehicle operational requirements.
10. Conducting operational testing and performance verification of installed mechanical systems and fabricated assemblies to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, workshop quality procedures and safety standards.
11. Supporting the on-site installation, commissioning and mechanical integration of heavy-duty fabricated systems and specialised equipment where advanced fitting and machining expertise is required.
12. Undertaking specialised off-road mechanical fitting, fabricated metal integration and precision modification activities involving customised structural and mechanical systems for heavy-duty 4WD applications; it is understood that this position excludes occupations and duties associated with Fitter (General), Fitter and Turner, Fitter-Welder, Metal Machinist (First Class), and Motor Vehicle Parts and Accessories Fitter (General), as the role does not involve routine production machining, standard welding-focused work, conventional turning operations, general maintenance fitting, or the basic installation and replacement of standard automotive parts and accessories.
