East Doncaster Secondary College, situated in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, is a large, co-educational school with a focus on high academic achievement, excellence in teaching and learning and student connectedness and wellbeing.

SC1.Substantial experience in the initiation, development and implementation of programs, procedures and policies that foster resilience in children and young people and address their social, emotional and educational needs.
SC2.Capacity to provide leadership within a multidisciplinary professional team that fosters collaboration to achieve positive outcome within the student wellbeing area.
SC3.Ability to design, deliver or broker professional learning within a student support services team along with other professionals, such as teachers, who are involved in student engagement and wellbeing.
SC4. Demonstrate highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to undertake individual support and counselling for students and families and to maintain comprehensive records/data of these interactions.
SC5. At least a Degree in Social Work, a Degree in Counselling, or Degree in Psychology (Registered).
1. Provision of counselling to students and staff as required and where appropriate.
2. Provision of referrals to other support agencies where necessary.
3. Provision of positive school programs that promote student and staff well-being.
4. Support of our Program for Students with Disabilities and Disability Inclusion.
5. Active membership of the Student Wellbeing Team in delivering improvement as outlined in the School Strategic Plan and Annual Implementation Plan.
6. Support the school and teachers in the development of educational programs, particularly in respect to students with additional needs.
Range 4 is distinguished by broader management responsibility, particularly in the areas of finance, human resource and other support functions. Range 4 is responsible for managing a range of functions under a wide range of conditions, subject to the size and complexity of school operations.
Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction minimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.
Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
- Manage the delivery of support services to students, teachers, parents and other school clients.
- Ensure all external providers deliver the required service.
College wellbeing team members are expected to keep accurate and up to date records of their involvement with students. This school-based wellbeing file (now called "Department Confidential Student Files") is created by staff and stored at the school in accordance with the Department's Records Management policy and AHPRA's managing health records guidelines . Student records will include (but not limited to) information such as- referral and consent forms, risk assessments, safety plans, case notes, involvement with external agencies and student support plans.
Responsibilities may include:
1. Provide counselling and support to students and staff where appropriate
2. Lead the development and assist in delivering positive classroom and extra curricula programs that promote and improve student well-being, safety, resilience, engagement and connectedness, across the school (e.g. peer support, restorative practice and personal development programs) in consultation with the Student Wellbeing Team.
3. Lead the implementation of the Student Engagement Policy in consultation with the Student Wellbeing Team.
5. Collaborate with Sub School Assistant Principal's, Sub-School Team Leaders and classroom teachers to assist with the development of develop individual learning plans for identified students to address their personal needs.
6. Provide information and advice to parents and students upon request, including coordination and referral to DE Student Support Services, other Government agencies and alternative education/training/employment programs.
7. Assist Sub School Assistant Principal's, Sub School Team Leaders, and the Pathways Coordinators with the transition of new students to school and when exiting East Doncaster Secondary College to alternative pathways.
8. Provide information and feedback to the Sub School Team Leaders regarding individual student's needs, issues and concerns and assist in the development of effective learning programs that can be implemented for students at risk.
9. Assist students and their families, who require financial assistance in the form of maintenance or student allowances for school, excursions and/or camps books and uniforms.
10. Provide regular and confidential feedback and updates to the Principal about students and staff being assisted.
11. Participate in meetings of local and/or networks of school wellbeing coordinators.
12. Initiate, develop and implement student wellbeing programs within the school.
13. Intervene and provide direction in respect to more complex cases and/or issues within a school network.
