About Us

The Garden Berry Cafe is a welcoming café located in Berry, NSW, known for providing quality food, fresh flavours, and a memorable dining experience in a relaxed and friendly environment. We are passionate about using quality ingredients, delivering consistent dishes, and creating a warm atmosphere for our customers.

With a focus on great food, excellent customer service, and a positive team culture, we are seeking a motivated and passionate Chef to join our growing kitchen team.

Key Responsibilities

Preparing, cooking and presenting a variety of café-style dishes, including breakfast items, lunch options, seasonal dishes, and daily specials.
Preparing, seasoning and cooking food in accordance with established recipes, quality standards and customer expectations.
Monitoring food quality throughout preparation, cooking and presentation to ensure consistency and high standards.
Assisting with menu planning, development of new dishes and seasonal menu offerings.
Supervising and coordinating food preparation and kitchen operations during service periods.
Ensuring meals are prepared efficiently while maintaining appropriate portion control and presentation standards.
Managing stock levels, monitoring inventory and assisting with ordering food supplies as required.
Inspecting ingredients and finished dishes to ensure freshness, quality and compliance with food safety requirements.
Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen environment at all times.
Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety procedures and food handling standards.
Training, supporting and supervising kitchen staff where required.
Assisting with rostering and maintaining smooth kitchen workflow during busy periods.
Working collaboratively with management and front-of-house staff to provide excellent customer experiences.

Qualifications & Experience

To be considered for this role, applicants must possess:

Diploma of Hospitality Management, Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, or a relevant qualification.
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Chef in a café, restaurant, or commercial kitchen environment.
Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and modern café-style cuisine.
Experience preparing breakfast, lunch, seasonal dishes, and quality food offerings.
Understanding of food safety standards, hygiene practices, and kitchen operations.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Strong organisational skills with excellent time management abilities.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
Reliable, motivated, and passionate about delivering high-quality food.
Availability to work weekends and public holidays as required.
