Primary objective
You will support public schools to attract and recruit a high-quality workforce to ensure Northern Territory Government
school students have access to quality education.
Context statement
The Talent, Attraction and Recruitment (TAR) work unit sits within Schools Leadership, Culture and Care team. TAR supports
the department’s strategic direction by ensuring the organisation can meet its current and future workforce needs through
effective educator attraction and recruitment approaches. There are 153 government schools across six regions in the NT -
Central, Big Rivers, Barkly, Top End, Darwin and East Arnhem – with 71 per cent of schools located in remote and very
remote areas. Reporting to the Assistant Director – Talent Acquisition, the Talent Acquisition Officer provides
administrative support to schools and facilitates high-quality workforce recruitment.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Maintain talent pools and assist with proactive candidate engagement including screen teacher’s suitability for
employment.
2. Provide administration, support including human resourcing, financial processing, correspondence management,
document production and data entry with demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail.
3. Support the TAR team to undertake a range of projects and programs relating to workforce attraction.
4. Initiate, develop, facilitate and maintain collaborative networks and relations with internal and external stakeholders
including teachers, principals, regulatory authorities and union officials which include managing and responding to queries
via email, telephone and face to face.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Knowledge of contemporary attraction and talent including end to end recruitment and candidate management.
2. Strong oral, written communication and interpersonal skills to provide advice and establish and maintain professional and
collaborative relationships with people at all levels with a customer centric approach.
3. Excellent organisational and time management skills including the ability to prioritise workload and complete several tasks
concurrently within established timeframes.
4. Demonstrated ability to use and support others in the use of information technology including online employment
systems, analytical tools and databases.
5. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. Comprehensive
understanding of cultural responsiveness in planning, attracting, recruiting, and deploying education workforce resources.
Desirable
1. Relevant Human Resources qualifications.
2. Demonstrated ability in interpreting and applying HR legislation frameworks and working visa processes.
