Lead Meaningful Change

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced and passionate nursing leader to influence and strengthen the delivery of trauma-informed, person-centred nursing forensic services across Hunter New England Local Health District.

As a Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 3 (CNC, you will provide expert clinical consultancy, professional leadership and strategic direction to the teams supporting people who have experienced sexual assault and domestic and family violence (SADFV). Working closely with medical leaders, managers and multidisciplinary teams, you will play a pivotal role in shaping service delivery, advancing clinical practice and ensuring high-quality, culturally safe care for some of our most vulnerable communities.

In this senior leadership role, you will combine your clinical expertise with your ability to mentor, influence and inspire others. Together, we are committed to delivering responsive, accessible and culturally respectful services for all communities.

Key responsibilities include:

Providing professional nursing leadership across SADFV services
Supporting and developing the forensic nursing workforce through education, mentoring, supervision and clinical support
Leading the implementation and ongoing development of best-practice medical forensic programs and services
Collaborating with medical leaders and service managers to strengthen clinical governance, service planning and standards of practice
Promoting evidence-based, trauma and violence informed, culturally safe care that places the needs of victim-survivors at the centre of service delivery
Maintain your clinical expertise through participation in the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner roster, providing integrated medical and forensic responses to adolescents and adults following recent sexual assault.

We are seeking a confident and compassionate nursing leader who:

Demonstrates advanced clinical expertise and sound professional judgement
Is committed to trauma-informed and person-centred care
You bring passion and experience in workforce development, education and mentorship
Ability to participate in an on-call roster up to 3 times a month and willingness to travel on occasion

Essential Requirements

A minimum of 7 years full time equivalent post registration nursing experience, with at least 5 years full time equivalent experience working in a relevant speciality (e.g. emergency medicine, sexual assault, women's health, forensic nursing, reproductive and sexual health, gynaecology and/or midwifery).
Completed, or be studying towards completion of Education Centre Against Violence training modules in Forensic Photography; and Provide a Medical and Forensic Response to Domestic and Family or equivalent courses.
Completed the NSW Health Education Centre Against Violence Graduate Certificate in the Medical and Forensic Management of Adult Sexual Assault (or equivalent) and have completed at least three supervised medical and forensic consultations on a patient reporting recent sexual assault
(h) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
