Where you'll be working
Join a passionate and innovative Radiation Oncology team based at Westmead Hospital within Western Sydney Local Health District — one of Australia’s largest and most diverse health services. This is a rare opportunity for a motivated graduate or early career Medical Physicist to gain hands-on clinical experience while completing ACPSEM TEAP accreditation in a supportive teaching hospital environment.

You will work alongside highly experienced Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists, Radiation Therapists and multidisciplinary clinicians dedicated to delivering world-class patient care and advancing cancer treatment technologies.

Work in a large tertiary referral and teaching hospital
Access cutting-edge radiation oncology technologies and equipment
Receive ACPSEM ROMP TEAP training, mentoring and career support
Contribute to research, innovation and quality improvement initiatives
Collaborate across Westmead, Blacktown and Western Sydney LHD sites

What you'll be doing
This exciting training role offers broad exposure across all aspects of Radiation Oncology Medical Physics while developing the skills and competencies required for ACPSEM accreditation.

In this role you will:

Participate in ACPSEM TEAP clinical and academic training
Assist with commissioning, acceptance testing and quality assurance of radiation oncology equipment
Contribute to treatment planning, brachytherapy and patient dosimetry services
Support radiation safety programs, protocols and quality improvement activities
Engage in multidisciplinary research, education and clinical development projects

Essential Requirement:

Qualification: Bachelor of Science (Major in Physics) and completion of or substantial progress towards an ACPSEM accredited medical physics MSc course or PhD.
Registration: Eligible to enrol in ACPSEM radiation oncology physics TEAP.
License: Eligible or hold a current NSW EPA license IA29S and S29S.

Selection Criteria:

Evidence able to complete the TEAP training within three years as per ACPSEM Clinical Training Guide requirements.
Evidence of high academic records.
Demonstrate interest in research and evidence of initiative in problem solving.
Demonstrate good presentation as well as time and data management skills.
Evidence of oral and written communication skills and ability to work effectively both in a multi-disciplinary team as well as independently.
