Nepean Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Medical Physics Specialist to join our team. This role provides specialist scientific and technical support to nuclear medicine services, ensuring the safe, compliant, and effective use of radioactive materials and imaging equipment. You will contribute to quality assurance programs, equipment commissioning, radiation safety, and optimisation of clinical practices while working closely with nuclear medicine physicians, technologists, and multidisciplinary teams in a tertiary hospital setting.

The successful applicant will demonstrate strong expertise in nuclear medicine physics, a commitment to patient safety, and the ability to support innovation and service development. What you will bring to the role

Meets eligibility requirements for Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM) Registration in Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physics (Nuclear Medicine), or such other accreditation body acceptable to the Secretary, Ministry of Health.

Demonstrated organisational skills and ability to work independently with a high level of productivity to deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes.

Eligible to hold NSW EPA S17 and IA17 radiation user license to use ionising radiation apparatus and radioactive substances.

Demonstrated clinical experience in in nuclear medicine imaging and radionuclide therapy physics in a clinical environment.

Demonstrated supervisory and educational skills

Experience in commissioning, acceptance testing and routine quality assurance for the full range of Nuclear Medicine Equipment.

Demonstrated high level communication and organisational skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues, patients and members of the public on radiation issues; including the ability to analyse and compile comprehensive written reports on radiation safety matters.

Evidence of initiative and ability to prioritise amongst competing service requirements, and willing to work flexible work hours (early or late) at times, as required and has a willingness to travel to other sites for work purposes.
