About the role
As the Manager Governance, Risk & Business Improvement, you'll play a key leadership role in strengthening the systems, frameworks and practices that underpin TAFE Gippsland's success. This is an opportunity to influence the way the organisation operates by driving good governance, embedding effective risk management, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Working closely with leaders across the Institute, you'll provide expert advice and practical support to improve business processes, enhance compliance, and deliver sustainable organisational outcomes. You'll lead the development of governance and risk frameworks, oversee internal audit and assurance activities, and champion initiatives that improve efficiency, accountability and service excellence.
As a trusted advisor to the Executive Leadership Team, Audit and Risk Committee and Board, you'll use data, insights and collaboration to support strategic decision-making while ensuring the Institute meets its legislative and regulatory obligations. You'll also lead a high-performing team and help build organisational capability by coaching and supporting leaders to embed best practice across governance, compliance and business improvement.
About you
You're an experienced governance, risk or business improvement professional who enjoys working with people to solve complex challenges and drive meaningful change. You bring a collaborative approach and are equally comfortable developing strategic frameworks as you are working alongside leaders to improve day-to-day business practices.
You'll be someone who:
- Has significant experience leading governance, risk, compliance, quality or business improvement functions within a complex organisation.
- Can interpret legislation, standards and regulatory requirements and translate them into practical, user-friendly policies, frameworks and processes.
- Builds strong relationships and influences stakeholders at all levels through collaboration, credibility and sound advice.
- Has strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience identifying opportunities to improve organisational performance.
- Is an excellent communicator with the ability to facilitate workshops, present to senior leaders and prepare high-quality reports.
- Has experience leading and developing teams while fostering a positive, accountable and high-performing culture.
- Takes a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach and enjoys driving continuous improvement that delivers measurable outcomes.
- Holds relevant tertiary qualifications (or equivalent experience) in governance, risk, business, law or a related discipline.

- Current Victorian Working with Children Clearance
- Current Police Check (not older than 12 months old)
- Current Driver’s Licence
- A 6-month probationary period applies to this role
