Job Title: Administration & Bookkeeping Officer
Company: The Carpet Man
Location: Moorooka, QLD (On-site)
Hours: Part-Time, Monday to Friday, 5 hours per day (9:00 AM to 2:00 PM)
Salary: $32.00 – $38.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)About the Role:
We are a busy, locally owned flooring shop seeking a highly organized, reliable Admin and Bookkeeper to join our team at The Carpet Man in Moorooka. Working a convenient and consistent schedule, you will be the backbone of our daily financial and office operations—managing our accounts and keeping our office running smoothly. You will also have the backing of 2 other part time administration support staff that handle other facets of the the office.

Key Responsibilities:

Weekly Payroll & Superannuation: Process weekly staff payroll and manage accurate weekly superannuation runs.
End-of-Year Reconciliations: Perform critical yearly reconciliations of PAYG accounts and superannuation paid accounts to ensure full compliance before the file goes to the accountant.
Subcontractor Management: Process and reconcile weekly payments to flooring installers and subcontractors.
Bookkeeping: Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), including invoicing, receipting, and chasing outstanding payments.
Reconciliation: Reconcile bank accounts, merchant accounts, and credit cards daily in Xero.
Admin Support: Answer phones, respond to customer emails, manage general office filing, and support the team where needed.
Other ad hoc duties: General duties as requested by management. Insurance , work cover ,

About You:

Proven experience in bookkeeping and administration.
Proficiency in Xero is essential.
Experience with weekly payroll cycles, subcontractor invoices, and yearly PAYG/superannuation reconciliations.
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work autonomously.
Strong customer service skills with a warm, professional phone manner.
Previous experience in a trade, retail, or construction setting is highly regarded.
