2x Fixed Term Opportunities to work within the Contracts and Infrastructure Branch.
VPS Grade 4: $100,894 - $114,476 plus superannuation.

The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking two VPS Contract Officers to provide a critical role within Corrections Victoria.

About the Business Unit

The Contracts and Infrastructure Branch (CIB) is responsible for contract management, commercial oversight and advisory services, as well as the effective management and maintenance of all Corrections and Justice Services' prison and related infrastructure. This includes:

The management and oversight of major contracts including those for private prisons
Representing the Corrections and Justice Services' interests on infrastructure and construction projects to ensure the best possible outcome for stakeholders and commercial partners
The development and implementation of all required systems, processes and policies to sustain this diverse asset portfolio

The role of a Contract Officer - Justice Transport Services (Fixed-Term until 15 January 2027)

The Contract Officer will contribute to the management of the Justice Transport Services contract that provides secure statewide transport services for persons in custody across police cells, courts, prisons, youth justice precincts, and hospitals.

This role will support implementation of contract initiatives including commercial negotiations, procurement activities and briefings to senior staff and stakeholders.

The role of a Contract Officer - Public Private Prison Partnership (Fixed-Term until 28 May 2027)

The Contract Officer will contribute to the management of the Public Private Partnership prison contracts, supporting implementation of contract initiatives including commercial negotiations, procurement activities and briefings to senior staff and stakeholders.

The Contract Officer will contribute to ongoing contract management including compliance reviews, performance analysis, individual projects and ongoing monitoring of the contracts to ensure services are delivered to the defined standards.

The role will involve regular travel to prison locations and other sites where contracted services are being delivered and may require overnight travel to a regional site.

Some of your duties will include:

Provide administrative, contract management and program support for the Private Prison / Justice Transport Services contracts and any other contracts as directed.
Provide advice to senior management on contractual matters and opportunities.
Prepare high level detailed briefings, correspondence, and reports on contractual and operational issues to senior management, including the Commissioner, Secretary and Ministers that may involve integrating complex information from a variety of sources with limited direction.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Demonstrated experience in contract management of complex service contracts.
An ability to prepare comprehensive reports including commercial and contractual analysis.

Qualifications/requirements

There are no mandatory qualifications for this role, however qualifications in contract administration, procurement and/or Correctional experience would be desirable.
