About Start Solar

Start Solar is a growing renewable energy and home energy solutions company based in Melbourne.

Our product portfolio has expanded beyond traditional solar and now includes:

-Solar Panels
-Home Batteries
-Reverse-Cycle Air Conditioners
-Heat Pumps
-Home Water Filtration

As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Digital Marketing & Lead Generation Coordinator who can help us build our online presence and, most importantly, generate quality leads that convert into sales.

This is a hands-on role. We are looking for someone who can plan, create, execute, analyse and improve marketing campaigns, rather than simply post content on social media.

THE ROLE

You will be responsible for managing Start Solar's day-to-day digital marketing activities across our different product categories.

Your primary objective will be:

Generate more qualified leads at an acceptable cost.

You will work closely with our sales team to understand which campaigns are generating genuine enquiries and which are converting into customers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Lead Generation

Develop and execute campaigns to generate leads for solar, batteries, heat pumps, air conditioning and water filtration.
Identify new opportunities for generating residential and commercial leads.
Create landing pages, enquiry forms and lead-generation campaigns.
Monitor lead volumes, lead quality and conversion rates.
Work with the sales team to understand lead quality and improve campaigns accordingly.
Test different offers, messages, audiences and channels.

2. Facebook & Instagram Marketing

Manage Start Solar's Facebook and Instagram presence.
Create and schedule regular posts, reels, stories and promotional content.
Develop Meta advertising campaigns.
Create different campaigns for different products and customer segments.
Monitor advertising performance and optimise campaigns.
Test different creatives, headlines, offers and audiences.
Retarget website visitors and previous customers where appropriate.

3. Google & Online Advertising

Manage Google Ads campaigns or coordinate with external Google Ads specialists where required.
Research keywords and identify new advertising opportunities.
Monitor cost per lead, conversion rates and campaign performance.
Identify opportunities to improve organic search visibility.
Assist with Google Business Profile and local SEO activities.

4. Website Management

Maintain and update Start Solar's website.
Add new products, promotions, offers and educational content.
Create landing pages for specific campaigns.
Identify opportunities to improve website conversion rates.
Ensure website content is accurate, current and engaging.
Monitor website traffic and customer behaviour.

5. Email & SMS Marketing

Develop regular email campaigns to our existing customer database.
Create campaigns for:
Solar upgrades
Batteries
Heat pumps
Air conditioners
Water filtration
Government rebates/incentives
Seasonal promotions
Develop customer segmentation strategies.
Create follow-up campaigns for leads that have not yet purchased.
Monitor open rates, click-through rates and conversions.

6. Content Creation

Create engaging content including:

Social media posts
Customer installation stories
Before & after content
Educational articles
Product explainers
Promotional campaigns
Emailers
Short-form videos/reels
Customer testimonials
Case studies

You should be comfortable using tools such as Canva, CapCut or similar platforms.

You do not necessarily need to be a professional graphic designer or videographer, but you should be able to create good-quality marketing content independently.

7. CUSTOMER DATABASE & CRM MARKETING

Start Solar has an existing customer database and CRM.

You will be expected to help turn our existing customers into additional opportunities.

For example:

Solar customer → Battery

Solar customer → Heat Pump

Solar customer → Air Conditioner

Solar customer → Water Filtration

Battery customer → EV / additional energy solutions

You will develop campaigns that allow us to sell additional products to our existing customer base, not just constantly look for new customers.

8. ANALYTICS & REPORTING

This is a particularly important part of the role.

You will be expected to track:

Number of leads generated
Cost per lead
Lead source
Qualified leads
Sales conversion rate
Cost per acquisition
Revenue generated
Campaign ROI
Website enquiries
Email performance
Social media performance

We don't measure marketing success by likes and followers.

We measure it by:

How many genuine customers did marketing help Start Solar acquire?

9. WORK WITH THE SALES TEAM

Work closely with sales consultants to:

Understand which leads are converting.
Identify poor-quality leads.
Improve lead qualification.
Develop campaigns around products that have strong demand.
Create marketing material that helps sales close deals.
Obtain customer testimonials and installation photos.
Identify common customer questions and turn them into marketing content.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Essential

Previous experience in digital marketing, lead generation or marketing coordination.
Experience with Facebook/Instagram marketing.
Understanding of Meta Ads Manager.
Strong written English.
Good copywriting skills.
Ability to create engaging social media content.
Experience with email marketing platforms.
Basic understanding of Google Analytics / GA4.
Experience with Canva or similar design software.
Strong organisational skills.
Ability to analyse campaign results and make improvements.
Strong attention to detail.

Experience with Google Ads, SEO, WordPress, CRM systems and marketing automation will be highly regarded.
