The Saturday Paper

The Saturday Paper is looking for an experienced and highly capable Sub-Editor to join The Saturday Paper team on a part-time basis, working 10 hours per week.
This is an opportunity for an experienced editor who has a strong eye for detail, excellent editorial judgement and a passion for producing high-quality independent journalism.
The Saturday Paper does not condone the use of AI in the production of its journalism.

About the role

Working closely with the Managing Editor, Editor-in-Chief and the editorial team, you will play an important role in ensuring our editorial content is accurate, engaging, polished and independent.

Your responsibilities will include:

Providing high-quality sub-editing across print and online content
Conducting thorough fact checking, including names, dates, quotations, statistics and factual claims
Ensuring content meets Schwartz Media’s editorial standards and style
Working collaboratively with writers, contributors, and other members of the editorial team
Undertaking other editorial tasks as directed by the Managing Editor or Editor-in-Chief

About you

We are looking for someone who:

Has demonstrated extensive experience as a sub-editor or copy editor, preferably in journalism or publishing
Has exceptional attention to detail and a strong command of grammar, spelling and punctuation
Has excellent fact-checking skills and editorial judgement
Can identify structural and narrative issues and suggest practical improvements
Is comfortable working to deadlines in a fast-paced editorial environment
Understands the importance of accuracy, consistency and maintaining a writer's voice
Is collaborative, reliable and able to work independently

Location : Collingwood, Vic / remote work is possible
Days : 10 hours per week across Wednesdays and Thursdays
Start date : From the week of 7th September 2026
