Senior Program Officer

Salary: $116,413 - $140,849 (Plus Superannuation)
Work Type: Fixed term (external applicants) / Temporary Assignment (internal DJSIR employees) / Secondment (VPS employees external to DJSIR) (30 June 2027)
Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)
Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne (flexibility may be available)

The Role

This position is responsible for leading the financial management, reporting, data analysis and information systems functions that support Sport and Recreation Victoria's community sports infrastructure investment programs. The role drives best practice program administration, financial management and continuous improvement, ensuring investment programs are delivered efficiently and in line with Victorian Government objectives.

Main accountabilities:

Manages an area with significant budget, staff responsibilities or strategic importance
Provides high level expertise dealing with more complex issues in a specialised corporate support function
Contributes to strategic business planning Interprets and applies business plans and policies in own area of responsibility and provides advice to others on implementation issues
Innovative thinking and analysis influences developments within area of responsibility

The Team

The position of Senior Program Officer forms a part of the Community Sport and Recreation branch within the Sport and Experience Economy group.

Sport and Experience Economy (SEE) Group delivers programs and initiatives to support positive experiences and a sense of belonging through sport, tourism, events and outdoor recreation - sectors that make Victoria a recognised leader from the grassroots level to the international stage and deliver significant economic, social and health benefits for the state.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:

Flexibility and Adaptability: Adapts systems and processes quickly to changed priorities and situations
Working Collaboratively: Guides others to create a culture of collaboration; Identifies, and works to overcome, barriers to knowledge or information sharing; Identifies opportunities to work with other teams to deliver outcomes
Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Takes into account wider business context within business unit when considering options to resolve issues. Identifies recurring problems and prevents future recurrence by integrating solutions into work process.
Data Literacy: Considers data volume, variety, velocity, and veracity to establish data collection (e.g. data parameters, data structure) and analysis (e.g. analysis equations, data visualisation) approach.
