Join the VEC as a Legal Services Officer and support the delivery of legal, regulatory and governance services that help uphold the integrity of Victoria’s electoral system. Working closely with the General Counsel and broader Electoral Integrity and Regulation portfolio, you will contribute to legal research, matter coordination, litigation support, contract administration and the management of statutory instruments in a dynamic and purpose-driven environment.

Full time ongoing role
VPS Grade 3.2 $91,971 - $98,955 plus superannuation
Location: Collins Street CBD and ad hoc at Plummer Street Port Melbourne (free shuttle service provided from Southern Cross Station to Port Melbourne office)

About this opportunity

Reporting directly to the General Counsel, the Legal Services Officer provides legal and administrative support to the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) across a range of legal, regulatory and governance issues.

About the team

The Electoral Integrity and Regulation portfolio is led by the Assistant Commissioner, Electoral Integrity and Regulation and encompasses electoral integrity and policy support, legal services and regulatory activities.

A day in the life of a Legal Services Officer

You will support the efficient delivery of legal services through legal research, matter coordination, litigation and enforcement support, contract and procurement administration, management of statutory instruments and liaison with internal and external stakeholders and legal service providers.

You will also have opportunities to contribute to the broader Electoral Integrity and Regulation portfolio, informing and supporting the General Counsel and other executives, senior leaders and subject matter experts to administer, coordinate and maintain statutory instruments, including appointments, delegations, determinations, and public notices.

About you

Demonstrated experience in a legal assistant, legal services, paralegal or legal administration role
Experience supporting legal matters through document management, litigation support, investigations, contract administration, records management or similar legal services functions
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail and deliver quality outcomes within required timeframes.
A qualification in law, legal studies, business administration or a related discipline is desirable but not required. Demonstrated experience working in a legal services, legal administration, paralegal or related environment will be highly regarded.
