Reference: 1805

The Senior Communications and Media Adviser delivers high-quality, strategic communications and media support for DEECA’s Agriculture and Forestry portfolio.

Reporting to the Communications and Media Manager, this role provides expert advice and delivers communications for policies, programs, initiatives and ministerial events. You will identify opportunities and risks, tailor messaging for diverse audiences, and manage complex media issues with confidence.

As a senior team member, you will support strategic approaches, build strong relationships across the department and partner agencies, and contribute to best-practice communication outcomes.

About you:

Strong media management skills, including handling complex and sensitive issues
Proven ability to deliver high-level communications advice
Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
A proactive, collaborative approach and ability to thrive in a dynamic environment

This role offers variety, flexibility and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across the Agriculture and Forestry portfolio.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

A relevant tertiary degree or industry recognised qualification in communications or public relations (or similar) would be well regarded.
Minimum five years’ experience spanning communications, media and marketing.
Contemporary knowledge of strategic communications and media channels and processes.
Sound knowledge of and experience working in government is preferred.

This is a fixed term position available for a period of 2 years. The work location for this position is 2 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne (flexibility within Victoria) with hybrid work arrangements available.
