About the role

Our people and community are the heart of all that we do and ensuring that our staff work in safe and supportive workplace is a high priority to us.

This role is a key member of the City Works Unit, providing onsite leadership and when required supervision of small crews. The position is a senior member and skilled crew member in a larger crew (4+ people), supervised by a crew leader, within the internal labour workforce carrying out maintenance and minor improvement works on Council's civil assets.

Skills and experience require to perform the role

Ability to carry out road maintenance, minor civil works and traffic management set out.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment, fostering a positive team approach to achieve Unit and organisational goals.
Competent in operating a variety of plant and equipment used in road and footpath maintenance and other minor civil works.
Skilled in the safe use of hand tools and small mechanical equipment related to road maintenance and construction.
Knowledge of how to set out road signage and set up traffic management in accordance with Australian Standards.
Demonstrated ability to use technology
Ability to interpret plans and given instructions and carry out relevant tasks.
The ability to carry out basic measurements, calculate quantities, order and arrange delivery of all required materials.
Certificate III in Civil Construction and/or substantial relevant work experience.
Current Victorian Driver’s Licence with a Heavy Rigid Licence Endorsement.
Valid Traffic Control qualifications.
Construction Induction Card (White Card)
Level 2 First Aid.
Valid Working with Children Check.
