All Seasons Event Pty Ltd is an event planning and wedding planning business based in Clyde, Victoria. We organise and manage weddings, private functions, community celebrations and other special events. As part of our event services, we provide Indian food catering tailored to the size, theme and dietary requirements of each function.
Due to the continued growth of our catering operations, we are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced full-time Cook specialising in Indian cuisine and event catering.
Position Summary
The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing, seasoning and cooking a wide range of Indian dishes for weddings, functions and catered events. The Cook will work closely with the event planning and catering teams to ensure meals are prepared on time, presented professionally and meet the required quality, food safety and dietary standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Examining ingredients and food products to ensure freshness, quality and suitability;
- Preparing and cooking traditional and contemporary Indian dishes, including curries, tandoori items, vegetarian dishes, rice dishes, breads, snacks, sauces and accompaniments;
- Regulating the temperatures of ovens, grills, burners, tandoors and other cooking equipment;
- Seasoning food during preparation and cooking to maintain consistent flavour, texture and quality;
- Portioning meals, plating dishes and adding gravies, sauces, garnishes and accompaniments;
- Storing ingredients and prepared food in appropriate temperature-controlled facilities;
- Preparing meals to meet special dietary, religious and allergen-related requirements;
- Assisting with menu planning and estimating food, ingredient and supply requirements for weddings and events;
- Calculating food quantities according to guest numbers and event requirements;
- Coordinating food preparation and cooking schedules to ensure meals are ready for service at the required time;
- Maintaining consistency in food quality, taste, presentation and portion sizes;
- Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering ingredients and kitchen supplies;
- Minimising food wastage through proper preparation, storage and portion control;
- Ensuring the kitchen, cooking equipment and food preparation areas are clean and hygienic;
- Following food safety, workplace health and safety and sanitation procedures;
- Assisting with the transportation, setup and service of food at event venues where required; and
- Providing guidance and training to kitchen assistants, junior kitchen staff and apprentices where required.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must have:
- An AQF Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, including at least two years of relevant on-the-job training; or
- An AQF Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent recognised qualification.
At least 1-2 Years of relevant commercial cooking experience along with the the formal qualification.
Applicants should also have:
- At least two years of relevant experience preparing Indian cuisine in a commercial kitchen or catering environment;
- Demonstrated knowledge of Indian ingredients, spices, cooking techniques and regional dishes;
- Experience preparing food for weddings, functions, banquets or other high-volume events;
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, allergen management and temperature-control requirements;
- Ability to accurately calculate food quantities for different guest numbers;
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict event deadlines;
- Strong organisational, communication and teamwork skills;
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, according to scheduled events; and
- A valid Food Safety or Food Handling Certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
