Therapeutic Youth Worker - Part Time

Part Time Fixed Term

About the Role

As a Therapeutic Youth Worker, you will provide trauma-informed care and support to children and young people living in residential care who have experienced trauma, abuse, and neglect. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will help create a safe, stable, and nurturing environment where young people can build resilience, develop life skills, and achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Build safe, therapeutic relationships with children and young people.
Provide daily care, household support, transport, and routine activities.
Support education, appointments, employment, and community participation.
Implement therapeutic care plans, behaviour support strategies, and safety plans.
Respond to complex behaviours using trauma-informed and de-escalation practices.
Administer medication and maintain accurate documentation.
Collaborate with families, Child Safety, schools, and allied professionals.
Promote the safety, wellbeing, and cultural identity of every young person.

About You

Experience supporting children, young people, or adults with complex needs.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including sleepovers, weekends, and public holidays.
Current Blue Card, NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or willingness to obtain), National Police Check, First Aid & CPR, and unrestricted Australian Driver Licence.
Diploma desired or Certificate IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Community Services, Youth Work, Mental Health, Disability, or a related field.
