Help create stability and consistency for young people who need it most.
At Kanda, we support young people to build stability, independence and positive futures through safe home environments where they can feel secure and supported.
As a Residential Care Worker, you'll support young people in a home setting, helping them navigate daily challenges, build life skills and develop trusting relationships. You'll be backed by structured training, practical tools and experienced local leaders so you can respond with confidence in challenging situations.
Using therapeutic approaches including The Sanctuary Model and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), you'll help create safe environments where young people can build confidence, stability and independence over time.
Locations include: Springfield Lakes, Flinders View, Redbank Plains, Collingwood Park, Brassall & Spring Mountain
What you'll be doing
- Create a safe, stable home where young people feel secure, valued and encouraged
- Support young people with everyday routines including school, meals, appointments, community activities and life skills
- Build genuine relationships that provide consistency, encouragement and someone they can rely on
- Respond calmly to challenging behaviour using therapeutic, trauma-informed approaches
- Complete clear documentation and work closely with your team to ensure consistent care that helps young people thrive
You're the right person if...
- You have experience in residential care, youth justice, or supporting young people with complex behaviours in disability, mental health or similar environments
- You're passionate about building a career supporting young people and want to make a positive difference in their lives
- You stay calm under pressure and build trust through consistency, empathy and compassion
- You enjoy supporting young people to develop confidence, life skills and greater independence
- You're available to work a rotating roster, including sleepover shifts and awake overnight shifts (where required)
Before you start you’ll also need:
- A current Australian driver's licence (minimum P2)
- A Working with Children Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- A completed or currently enrolled in a Certificate IV or Diploma in Community Services, Youth Work, Social Work or a related qualification.
