Position Description

Position Title Senior School TAS Teacher (Maternity Leave Temporary Position)

Reporting Manager Head of TAS

Role Purpose All teachers have the responsibility to support Danebank’s aspiration and
intent, upholding its core values and Christian foundation.

The TAS teacher is passionate about learning and deeply committed to the
wellbeing and growth of each student. Delivering teaching in the areas of
Textiles & Design, Food Technology and Technology Mandatory.

In partnership with their Head of Department and the TAS Department, the
Technology teacher collaborates, shares teaching practice, and brings
innovative ideas to promote a culture of continuous improvement.

The TAS teacher delivers an inspiring and differentiated learning program
through high quality teaching in order to develop deep understanding and
develop students as reflective and powerful learners. The teacher ensures
professional compliance, supports policy and follows school procedures and
systems.

Every teacher is expected to be involved in the learning, student care,
outdoor education and co-curricular programs as these are pivotal to the
holistic development of each student.

Specific Duties and
Responsibilities

Actively support the Christian ethos of the school, modelling a Christian
example in all activities.

Create inclusive, safe and supportive learning environments that model
Christian world views.

Teaching and Learning

Sound understanding of the content and structure of the NESA

curriculum and contemporary learning.

Support students to learn how to learn, developing individuals as

self directed, powerful learners.

Classroom teaching and co-curricular activities Years 7-12,

including planning and implementing coherent, well-sequenced
teaching and learning programs that engage students and promote
learning.

Provision of rigorous academic learning, supporting students to

achieve their personal best and pursue learning growth through
personalisation of learning.

Implement best practice teaching and learning strategies

appropriate to the learning of teenage girls.

Purposely integrate literacy, numeracy and ICT into teaching and

learning programs.

Regularly monitor and assess student learning and growth and

analyse data to inform and improve teaching practice.

An ability to inspire and engage students and to develop in them a

love and appreciation of TAS.

Ensure that positive and constructive feedback is provided to

students in a timely manner to improve the students'
understanding.

Maintain all administrative records to a high standard including

programs and registers, attendance, wellbeing, NCCD, assessment
and reports.

Professional Development

Share knowledge and resources, develop skills and ensure best

practice principles are applied across the department and
Danebank’s professional learning community.

Actively seek appropriate and timely professional development.
Engages in the regular performance appraisal process and

professional development practices of the school.

Participates in accreditation processes.

Wellbeing

Adhering to a holistic approach to student learning, engaging with

the school’s Becoming Framework for student development.

Work in collaboration with Head of Department, departmental

colleagues and Year Coordinators to address student management
and behavioural issues.

Work collaboratively as part of the wellbeing team to deliver the

Student Wellbeing programs, refer students to specialist staff
where required and liaise with middle leaders as appropriate.

Establish rapport with students and provide ongoing

encouragement to support students’ emotional and social
wellbeing.

Maintains professional confidentiality on information about

students.

Provides the appropriate duty of care and supervision of students.

Communication and Engagement

Interpersonal skills appropriate to establishing and maintaining

effective and respectful relationships with students, staff and
parents.

Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents/carers.
Plan and participate in excursions.
Responds to parent enquiries regarding curriculum and student

matters in a timely manner to ensure positive outcomes for
student learning.

Prepares meaningful feedback and reports regularly to students

and parents.

Being available to assist students out of class where needed, via

negotiation between teacher and students.

Attend chapel services in line with teaching timetable availability
Attend other School events (e.g. theatre productions) and maintain

an active connection with the broader community.

Develop and maintain a working understanding of the School’s Workplace
Health & Safety (WHS) policies, processes, practices and reporting
requirements. Ensure own compliance with applicable requirements and
reporting practices, including hazard and incident reporting. Take
reasonable care for your own and other’s safety at all times, including
maintaining appropriate housekeeping and raising facilities requests as
required in personal work spaces and classrooms

Any other duties as may be required by the Principal and/or Head of Senior
School.

Key Competencies, Skills

and/ or Experience

A personal Christian faith and commitment, demonstrating a

commitment to Christian teaching practice.

Expertise and experience in teaching all student levels of

Technology, including Technology Mandatory, Design and
Technology.

Experience teaching Stage 5 Design & Technology, Stage 4

Technology

Ability to deliver effective pedagogy in an innovative and engaging

manner.

Effective interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work

collaboratively with colleagues and parents.

Professional and personal integrity.
Flexible and open to change.
Proactive and innovative.
Technologically literate and experienced in the integration of

technology into every aspect of students’ learning.

Willingness to actively engage in co-curricular activities.
Commitment to personal and professional development.

Essential Qualifications Essential:

Qualification in secondary education.
Tertiary qualification in Technology.
Accredited with NESA.
Working with Children check required.
Experience teaching Technology, Design and Technology.
Experience teaching Stage 5 Design & Technology, Stage 4

Technology
Highly Desirable:

Knowledge and experience in CAD, 3D printing, laser cutting
