Project Officer

At the NSW Department of Education, we educate and inspire lifelong learners – from early childhood, through schooling to vocational education and training.

Located in Eveleigh with flexible working arrangements available
Competitive salary of $113,574 - $125,720 pa plus superannuation and leave loading

About the role

The ongoing project officer role is within the Department’s School Infrastructure division and is part of a new Portfolio Investment directorate. The successful candidate will be part of a new team whose work will improve asset management and service delivery and inform investments. It will work collaboratively with leaders and stakeholders across the department such as Asset Management, Public Schools, Finance as well as with external agencies. The role will contribute to key deliverables and will be part of a team that provides advice, guidance and assurance relating to asset performance, informed by data and best practice.

The successful candidate will support the Manager in the delivery and implementation of asset management frameworks, policies and plans. Within the department, this role is critical to the delivery and implementation of the NSW Government’s Asset Management Policy.

About you

Demonstrated project management experience to plan, coordinate and deliver projects on time and within budget
Strong collaboration and communication skills, including written skills
Data analysis skills and an ability to produce insights that inform operational and strategic decision making
Desirable: experience within the infrastructure sector will be well regarded but is not essential
Desirable: an understanding of asset management frameworks or an understanding of ISO55000, Asset Management methodology or similar will be well regarded but is not essential.
Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role

Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
