Ward 3B is a busy Surgical Orthopaedic Unit renowned for its dynamic, resilient and hardworking nursing team, where collaboration, respect and clinical excellence are at the centre of everything we do. From your first day, you'll be supported by an experienced leadership team including the Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Nurse Educators and Clinical Nurse Specialists. You'll commence with supernumerary shifts to help you transition confidently into the role, with ongoing mentoring, structured education and clear pathways for career progression. We also believe in celebrating our people, recognising birthdays and special occasions while providing access to modern clinical equipment and the Single Digital Patient Record (SDPR) system to support high-quality patient care.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Registered Nurse within our Surgical Orthopaedic Unit, you will deliver safe, evidence-based and person-centred care to patients throughout their surgical journey. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care while supporting positive patient outcomes and promoting recovery.
Your responsibilities will include:

Providing comprehensive nursing care to orthopaedic and post-operative patients.

Monitoring patient progress and responding appropriately to changes in clinical condition.

Administering medications and treatments in accordance with professional standards and hospital policies.

Collaborating with medical officers, allied health professionals and nursing colleagues to deliver coordinated care.

Maintaining accurate clinical documentation.

Supporting patient education, discharge planning and rehabilitation goals.

Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and fostering a positive, collaborative team culture.

About you
You are a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse with a genuine passion for surgical and orthopaedic nursing. You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and thrive as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care.
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, professionalism, accountability and a positive attitude. You are committed to delivering safe, patient-centred care and are eager to continue developing your clinical knowledge and skills.
Experience in orthopaedic nursing is welcomed but not essential. We will support you to develop advanced orthopaedic nursing knowledge, leadership skills, preceptorship capabilities and pathways into senior clinical or leadership roles.
