Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Cook to join the kitchen team at Australian Arms Hotel in Penrith, NSW. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality meals to our diverse clientele, contributing to the restaurant and bar operations that are central to our venue's success.

Core Responsibilities

Culinary Execution: Prepare and cook high-quality dishes following standard recipes.
Station Management: Organize and clean food preparation areas during service.
Food Safety: Enforce hygiene, storage, and temperature control protocols.
Shift Coordination: Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal delivery.
Plate Presentation: Plate and garnish dishes to meet venue standards.

Operations & Leadership

Menu Development: Assist with planning menus and proposing new dishes.
Inventory Control: Check deliveries, inspect quality, and manage stock rotation.
Kitchen Maintenance: Monitor equipment functionality and report repair needs.
Team Mentorship: Train and support junior kitchen staff.
Compliance: Adhere strictly to health, safety, and company regulations.

What we're looking for

Proficiency in food preparation techniques, cooking methods and a broad knowledge of cuisines
Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation and hygiene standards, including current food handling certification or willingness to obtain one.
Excellent time management skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a kitchen team
Attention to detail and passion for food preparation and presentation
Experience working in hotels, pubs or restaurants is highly desirable
