At Biriyani Jinn in Coburg North, we serve the ultimate, authentic tastes of Malabar and Middle Eastern fusion cuisine. From our signature slow-cooked Jeerakashala rice biriyanis to our fiery Peri Peri Al-fahm Chicken, we deliver a homely, high-quality dining experience.

Our busy kitchen cooks for over 100+ people every single day. We are expanding our team and looking for a passionate, hard-working Aspiring Cook to join us. If you love food, want to learn authentic spice traditions, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we want to train you!.

The Role

This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity for someone looking to kickstart their culinary career. You don’t need to be a head chef yet—we will teach you the art and science behind our famous biriyanis, slow-cooked meats, and flame-grilled Al-fahm chicken.

You will work closely with our senior kitchen team, learning every station from prep to plating.

Key Responsibilities:

* Prep Work Mastery: Assist in cutting meats, chopping vegetables, preparing marinades, and washing/measuring specialty Jeerakashala rice.

* Station Support: Help monitor the grill for our Al-fahm Chicken and assist in plating fresh Biriyani, Mandi, and side dishes during busy service rushes.

* Cleanliness & Hygiene: Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen by following "clean-as-you-go" habits and washing dishes or equipment when required.

* Stock Control: Help receive deliveries, check ingredient freshness, and ensure everything is stored correctly according to food safety standards.

* Follow Recipes: Learn and follow Biriyani Jinn’s exact spice ratios to ensure our "homely" taste remains perfectly consistent.

What We Are Looking For:

* Passion & Curiosity: A genuine love for cooking, bold flavours, and a strong desire to learn Malabar and Middle Eastern culinary techniques.

* Reliability & Punctuality: A dependable team player who arrives on time, ready to work hard during heavy weekend rushes.

* Stamina & Speed: Ability to stay positive, move quickly, and keep up with the fast pace of a restaurant serving 100+ covers daily.

* Good Communication: Able to listen carefully to instructions from senior chefs and work safely in a hot kitchen environment.

* Experience (Bonus but not required): Previous experience in a kitchenhand, fast-food, or hospitality role is an advantage, but a great attitude is our number one priority!

* Right to Work: Valid working rights in Australia.
