Primary objective
To provide administrative, digital, and data support to staff and students. The role is central to ensuring smooth day-to-day
operations in a busy and dynamic school environment, with a strong focus on interpersonal communication and supporting
users with their on-site and remote digital needs.
Context statement
MacFarlane Primary School, located in Katherine, provides education for 200 Pre-school to Year 6 students, of which 91%
of students are Indigenous. The school’s priorities are to improve literacy and numeracy outcomes and ensure the wellbeing
of all students and staff members. MacFarlane Primary School focuses on children attending school every day and being
taught by committed teachers. MacFarlane engages in many alternative projects to stimulate oracy across the school and
build resilience and respect within the school community. MacFarlane has a strong focus on the establishment of community
partnerships and the inclusion of Indigenous culture in our programs.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high-quality customer support to staff and students across the school.
2. Perform a wide range of administrative tasks with a high level of accuracy and efficiency, including data entry,
documentation and scheduling and supporting the Business Manager in day-to-day operations.
3. Assist with technology related services such as basic hardware setup, software installation and user access management,
with the understanding that technical skills can be developed on the job.
4. Use graphic and media design elements across a variety of publications, print, digital and promotional materials including
interactive and multimedia formats.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills and customer service with the ability to communicate effectively and
empathetically with staff and students.
2. High level organisational and administrative skills, including a demonstrated capacity to work autonomously and within a
team.
3. Demonstrated experience with digital technology and design software, including Microsoft Office, databases, Microsoft
Teams, Adobe Creative Cloud (or equivalent), or a willingness and ability to learn specific digital skills in a timely manner.
4. Ability to manage assets and proven digital knowledge, with a focus on supporting users.
5. Demonstrated ability to produce media and graphic design material for digital and print solutions and the ability to think
creatively following a design brief and using style guides.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of and experience in the delivery of digital, data or administration within an education setting.
2. Certificate III in Information Technology or equivalent
