The opportunity
Join QBE’s Credit & Surety division as an Underwriter – Trade Finance Solutions (TFS), shaping single‑risk trade finance and corporate lending transactions for financial institutions across APAC and global markets. You’ll directly impact portfolio quality and growth by delivering high‑quality credit analysis and underwriting within delegated authority, aligned to TFS guidelines, sign‑off processes, and portfolio appetite. This role strengthens strategic client relationships and enhances QBE’s reputation as a capacity provider in the TFS space.

Your new role
You’ll assess and underwrite complex bilateral and syndicated transactions, partnering with banks, brokers and internal stakeholders to deliver consistent, high‑quality outcomes across the TFS portfolio.

Evaluate and structure corporate lending, acquisition & leveraged finance, project & infrastructure finance, NAV/HoldCo/pre‑payment facilities, receivables & supply chain finance, and asset‑backed trade facilities.

Prepare and present underwriting recommendations (incl. Non-Binding Indications), pricing and coverage terms.

Apply TFS underwriting guidelines and global policy frameworks; operate within DAL and escalate where required.

Conduct credit risk reviews, sensitivity analysis and downside case modelling; manage concentration, sector and geographic exposures.

Monitor portfolio performance through triggers, early‑warning indicators and market developments for active obligors/facilities.

Lead stakeholder discussions with banks and brokers to clarify transaction purpose, funding drivers, limit constraints and deal context.

Review and negotiate policy documentation, binders, endorsements and transaction‑specific wordings; ensure alignment with treaty and regulatory expectations.
About you

Background in finance, banking or accounting. Credit insurance experience advantageous

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills—particularly with banks, brokers and internal governance functions.

Experience with analytical writing, commercial judgement and decisive decision‑making capability.

Familiarity with underwriting authorities, risk governance and compliance requirements in a regulated insurance environment advantageous.
