Full Job Description

Lead from the front at one of Hobart’s iconic hospitality venues.

The Telegraph Hotel is a vibrant, high-energy venue in the heart of Hobart, bringing together great food, drinks, entertainment and events under one roof. With a busy kitchen and a team that continues to grow, we’re looking for two experienced Sous Chefs to join our kitchen leadership team.

If you’re a passionate chef who loves being on the tools, leading a team and delivering great food in a fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you.

The Opportunity

Working closely with the Head Chef, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen and help drive a strong food offering across the venue.

You’ll be responsible for:

Leading and supporting the kitchen team during busy services
Maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation and consistency
Supporting menu development, specials and new food ideas
Coaching and developing junior chefs
Assisting with ordering, stock control and food cost management
Ensuring high standards of food safety, cleanliness and compliance
Keeping the kitchen organised, efficient and service-ready
Supporting the Head Chef with the overall operation of the kitchen
Creating a positive, respectful and high-performing kitchen culture

What We're Looking For

You'll be an experienced chef who is ready to take the next step in your career and make an impact within a busy kitchen.

You'll bring:

Previous Sous Chef or strong senior chef experience
Experience leading a team in a busy, high-volume kitchen
Strong culinary and technical cooking skills
The ability to stay calm, organised and hands-on during busy services
A genuine passion for food and delivering consistently high standards
Strong leadership and communication skills
A positive attitude and a willingness to lead by example
A passion for coaching and developing your team
