What we are looking for:
As a leader in wastewater management, you’ll oversee the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of treatment plants, pump stations, and networks, driving innovation and continuous improvement. This role offers the chance to lead skilled teams, shape best-practice policies, and ensure environmental and community standards are met.
What your day will look like:
- Coordinate and support the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment plants, pump stations and associated systems to achieve safe, compliant and efficient service outcomes.
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor operational work programs, rosters and maintenance activities to ensure effective use of resources and delivery within approved budgets and timeframes.
- Support environmental, regulatory and safety obligations by contributing to incident management, reporting processes and site safety responsibilities, including biogas facilities when required.

What you’ll need for success:
- Certificate III (AQF Level 3) in Water Industry Operations.
- Comprehensive experience coordinating wastewater treatment operations, maintenance, environmental compliance and asset management practices relevant to a treatment environment.
- Proven ability to interpret and apply legislation, policy and procedures to ensure consistent, compliant decision‑making in a complex operational environment.
- Ability to analyse information, identify risks and provide technical advice and solutions that support effective operations and organisational objectives.
- Proven capability to support budget management, monitor expenditure, and report on operational performance.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and coach others to achieve high‑quality outcomes, using sound judgement, effective communication and strong relationship‑building skills to influence decisions and resolve issues.
- Valid class C or CA driver licence (provisional or open) to drive a vehicle in Queensland.
- General Construction Induction (White Card), or ability to obtain prior to commencement.
What’s nice to have:
- Certificate IV (AQF Level 4) or higher qualification in Water Industry Operations, or similar.
- Previous experience in a Local Government environment.
- Experience with SCADA and telemetry systems.
