What we are looking for:
We are seeking a capable and motivated Wastewater Treatment Operator to assist with the operation, monitoring and maintenance of Council’s wastewater treatment plants and pumping stations. This role plays a key part in protecting public health, supporting environmental outcomes and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements while delivering reliable services to the community.
What your day will look like:
- Operate and maintain wastewater treatment plants and pumping stations
- Monitor and control treatment processes and plant performance
- Respond to alarms and operational issues via SCADA and telemetry systems
- Collect samples, undertake testing and maintain accurate operational records
- Assist with chemical handling, dosing and storage in line with WHS requirements
- Participate in on‑call and weekend rosters if required

What you’ll need for success:
- Certificate III in Water Operations (Wastewater Treatment) or ability to obtain within 24 months
- Current Class C or CA driver licence (QLD)
- General Construction Induction (White Card)
- Experience assisting with wastewater treatment or pumping station operations
- Ability to follow procedures, monitor plant performance and identify issues
- Strong commitment to WHS and safe operational practices
- Accurate record‑keeping and use of workplace systems
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
What’s nice to have:
- Experience using SCADA and telemetry systems
- Apply First Aid certification
- High Risk Work Licence (e.g. forklift)
- Confined Spaces or Chemical Users certification
