Support implementation of the new Research Approvals & Compliance System (RACS)
Herston Location
12 month fulltime fixed contract appointment plus salary packaging

About QIMR Berghofer:

QIMR Berghofer is a world-leading translational medical research institute focused on improving health by developing new diagnostics, better treatments and prevention strategies, specifically in the areas of Cancer, Infection and Inflammation, Brain and Mental Health, and Population Health. Based in Herston, Brisbane and working in close collaboration with clinicians and other research institutes, QIMR Berghofer is home to more than 600 scientists, students and non-research staff.

About the Research Ethics and Governance Team:

As part of the Research Governance and Funding Department, the Research Ethics and Governance team manages the interface between ethics committees, researchers and state, federal and international regulatory bodies, ensuring QIMR Berghofer’s ethical systems and processes are effective and support researchers.

Role Purpose / Responsibilities:

Reporting to the General Manager, Research Governance and Funding, you will provide project, operational and administrative support across the Research Governance and Funding (RGF) Department, with a particular focus on the implementation and ongoing operation of the IQ Integrity Research Approvals and Compliance System (RACS).

Working closely with researchers and stakeholders across the Institute, you will support research administration, business process improvement, system implementation, reporting, stakeholder engagement and operational activities across research ethics, governance, funding and compliance functions.

Key responsibilities include:

Supporting implementation, testing and optimisation of the RACS platform
Assisting with workflow mapping, documentation and continuous improvement initiatives
Supporting research administration, ethics, governance, funding, compliance or related activities
Maintaining accurate records, registers and compliance documentation
Coordinating documentation, submissions, approvals and reporting requirements
Assisting with compliance monitoring, audits and reporting activities
Assisting with the development and maintenance of procedures, user guides and training materials
Providing support to researchers and stakeholders navigating ethics and governance requirements
Supporting training, communication and change management activities associated with RACS

About you:

You are a highly organised and detail-oriented professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment supporting activities that enable high-quality research outcomes. You have experience in research administration, ethics, governance, compliance or related field and are comfortable working within regulated environments that require a high level of accuracy and professionalism.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Degree qualifications in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of experience and education within a research institute, healthcare, university, pharmaceutical industry or related environment
Experience supporting research ethics, governance, compliance, clinical trials or research administration activities
Knowledge of relevant research frameworks, including the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research, the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
Strong administrative, organisational and record management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a customer-focused approach
The ability to manage competing priorities and maintain attention to detail within a fast-paced environment

Desirable experience includes:

Clinical trial administration, governance or monitoring activities
GCP training or certification
Experience using research ethics, governance or compliance management systems
Experience supporting implementation of research administration platforms

Remuneration: Salary range is $91,591 to $100,862 p.a. plus super and generous salary packaging. This is a full-time, 12 month appointment.
