Austal is experiencing an exciting period of growth, and our Recruitment team plays a critical role in supporting this momentum. We are seeking a proactive and detail oriented Recruitment Officer to join the team, working closely with a Recruitment Advisor to deliver efficient, high-quality recruitment coordination and administrative support.
This role is ideal for someone who is eager to develop their capability in recruitment, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys working collaboratively across the business. You will be instrumental in ensuring a smooth and seamless candidate experience, supporting end-to-end recruitment processes and onboarding activities while managing competing priorities and deadlines.

What’s Involved
- Assisting in Managing the end-to-end recruitment process, including job postings, candidate sourcing, interviewing, and selection.

Collaborate with hiring managers to define job requirements and maintain effective job descriptions.

Assist the Recruitment Lead in developing and implementing innovative recruitment strategies to attract diverse and high-calibre talent.

Collaborate with hiring managers to draft and post advertisements that accurately represent the position and the company.

Schedule and coordinate interviews between candidates and hiring managers.

Provide guidance and support to hiring managers in the interview process.

Collect feedback from interviewers and candidates to assess fit and potential improvements.

Ensure candidates are given regular and timely feedback on the status of their application, including correspondence to unsuccessful applicants, feedback regarding outcomes or next steps following interview.

Ensure candidates are fully briefed on the recruitment process.

Ensure a positive candidate journey through the recruitment process, regardless of outcome.

Conduct reference checks and background screenings as necessary.

Manage the recruitment process for new candidates.

Ensure new employees feel welcome, informed, and integrated into the company culture.
You’ll Need
- Experience in a talent acquisition environment would be highly regarded.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Strong organisational skills, ability to prioritise a demanding, varied, reactive workload.

Ability to support structured processes, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including professional interaction with internal staff and external clients or candidates

Competence in using digital systems and databases, with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation

Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality support services
