About the Role
As the Motel Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and overall performance of the motel operation. You will ensure the property is maintained to a high standard, guests receive exceptional service, and the business operates efficiently and profitably.
The role requires a proactive and organised leader who can oversee accommodation operations, staff management, financial performance, reservations, guest relations, and property presentation while maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Motel Operations
- Oversee the daily operations of the motel including reception, housekeeping, reservations, and guest services
- Ensure all rooms, public areas, and facilities are maintained to a high presentation and cleanliness standard
- Manage check-in and check-out procedures efficiently and professionally
- Maintain high guest satisfaction through excellent customer service and prompt issue resolution
- Monitor occupancy levels and assist in implementing strategies to maximise bookings and revenue
Financial & Business Performance
- Maintain a sound understanding of motel financial performance including:
- Occupancy rates
- Average daily rates
- Revenue performance
- Labour costs
- Operational expenses
- Profitability targets
- Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting
- Identify opportunities to reduce operational costs while maintaining quality standards
- Develop and implement ideas to increase trade, occupancy, and overall profitability
- Monitor online booking platforms, pricing structures, and competitor activity
Staff Leadership & Management
- Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise motel staff
- Foster a positive and professional workplace culture
- Prepare staff rosters and manage labour costs effectively
- Ensure all staff maintain high customer service standards and professionalism
Property Presentation & Maintenance
- Ensure the property is consistently clean, organised, safe, and well-maintained
- Coordinate maintenance schedules and external contractors when required
- Conduct regular inspections of rooms and facilities to maintain quality standards
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements
Compliance & Administration
- Ensure accurate record keeping, reporting, reconciliations, and administrative processes
- Oversee reservations systems, invoicing, and payment processing
- Handle guest feedback and reviews professionally to maintain strong online ratings and reputation
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:
- Previous experience in motel, hotel, or accommodation management
- Strong leadership and organisational skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Experience managing accommodation booking systems and reservations platforms
- Sound financial understanding and ability to manage operational costs and revenue
- Strong attention to detail and pride in presentation standards
- Ability to work independently and lead a team effectively
