## Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team and play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of construction projects across a range of sectors. In this position, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions from initial project inception through to settlement. The ideal candidate is analytically minded, commercially astute, and possesses a strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and current market conditions. This role suits an experienced professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can confidently collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to drive project success.

- Analyse architectural drawings, specifications, engineering documents, and relevant codes of practice to develop comprehensive project cost assessments
- Collaborate closely with construction managers, architects, and quantity surveyors to support effective project planning and organisation
- Conduct material take-offs and quantification exercises, ensuring all project components are accounted for within estimates
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations, assessing suitability and value for money
- Identify and assess project risks, allowances, and contingencies, incorporating these appropriately into cost submissions
- Monitor and interpret market pricing trends, labour rates, and material costs to ensure estimates reflect current industry conditions
- Review and reconcile subcontractor and supplier bids, identifying scope gaps, exclusions, or discrepancies prior to tender submission
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders to clarify project requirements and resolve estimating queries in a timely manner
- Contribute to post-tender reviews and handover documentation, ensuring estimating assumptions are clearly communicated to the project delivery team
- Maintain and update estimating databases, historical cost libraries, and benchmarking data to continuously improve the accuracy of future submissions
- Support the continuous improvement of estimating processes, templates, and systems in line with best practice and company standards
## Required Qualifications & Skills
- Tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in a construction estimating role, ideally within a commercial, industrial, or infrastructure environment
- Proven ability to interpret complex construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, sequencing, and procurement processes
- Proficiency in industry-standard estimating software (e.g. Buildsoft, Cubit, Candy, or equivalent)
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for cost modelling and reporting
- Sound knowledge of Australian Standards, building codes, and relevant industry regulations
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present cost information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple tender submissions simultaneously and meet strict deadlines without compromising quality
- A commercially aware mindset with a thorough understanding of risk, value, and margin in a competitive tendering environment
## Preferred Qualifications

- Experience estimating across multiple project types, including new build, refurbishment, or civil works
- Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modelling) platforms and digital quantity take-off tools
